Wave deck in Middle Park

Make the small courtyard appear big, light and roomy while being functional was essentially the extent of our brief.

We created the deck with a curve, rather than a harsh edged step and this makes the area seem larger. The strip of backlit stone tiles that continues up the wall is not only a beautiful feature, but a safety mechanism and ensures foot traffic is diverted to the reclaimed bluestone steps. In the narrow space between the window and the side fence, water trickles between the black lit stone pots. Constructed from sustainable timber, the deck also features underneath storage and a cantilever backlit floating bench seat.
